Battambang is a deserted town located less than 100km South West of Siem Reap formally the headquarters for the UN in their quest to rebuild Cambodia. Ironically Battambang was meant to be a small scenic detour just down the river, but ultimately turned out to be an epic 9 + hour trip, spent in an unbearable hot and overcrowded boat, where the local fisherman took objection to our not so speedy speed boat disturbing their fishing and began throwing rocks, thongs and whatever else they could find. As for Battambang itself, apart from the scenic bike tour where the stoned locals showed us around the dusty countryside for the free mud pack and the ride on a less than traditional railway, not a lot to see or do, but enjoyable never the less.
